Women quietly fighting battles
Every day in Kyiv, there are women quietly fighting battles most of us never see.
Women raising children with disabilities live with constant responsibility — 24 hours a day. It is not just about love and care (although there is so much of it). It is also about therapies, medications, special equipment, transport, and often the impossibility for one of the parents to work full-time.
In Ukraine, more than 230,000 children live with disabilities, and their families are among the most vulnerable groups. When I speak to women, I often learn that they are left alone fighting for survival, as men fight in the war.
Many of them face limited access to services and financial pressure that grows every year. The war has made this even harder — access to rehabilitation, education, and basic services has sharply declined.
At the same time, millions of children in Ukraine now lack access to basic goods — including sufficient food. For families raising children with disabilities, this reality hits even harder.
This is why the support of Food for Ukraine is so important. Again this week, we delivered food packages to families. This is a message to them – you are not alone.
We continue our work thanks to the constant support of individuals and donors. Each euro is spent on food, thanks to volunteers along the whole chain of support – from donor to a food package in the hands of those in need.
